Lübeck is a Catholic Lower Saxon merchant republic part of the HRE located in the Mecklenburg area, North Germany region, of the Western Europe subcontinent; rising during the 'Stamford Bridge' era. Emerging, with cores, from Catholic Saxony at the start of the year 1181, the republic borders fellow Catholic countries ( Holstein to the north, Saxony to the southwest. and Mecklenburg to the east) and the waters of Öresund (Kattegat area, Baltic Sea region) in the northwest.
The republic will be annexed back into Saxony at the start of the year 1189, but will be released from Catholic Denmark control at the start of the year 1227.
The state religion will change from Catholic to Protestant at the start of the year 1529.
The country will no longer be an HRE member when the empire dissolves on July 12, 1806.
Lübeck will be annexed by Catholic Revolutionary France on December 13, 1810, but will be released from them on April 11, 1814.
Finally, Lübeck will be annexed by Protestant Prussia (forming Germany on the same date) on January 18, 1871 and will not appear on the map for the rest of the timeline. However the cores would still exist until the start of the year 1900. Country is called "Hansa" on-file.
