Maldives

General Information[]

The Maldives, at its start, is a Mahayana Sinhalese kingdom with a nayankara system located in the Indian Ocean Islands area, Malaya region, East Indies subcontinent of the Asia continent. The kingdom exists at the start of the map with cores, year 2, bordering only the waters of the Arabian Sea and Western Indian Ocean below the India subcontinent.

The Maldives will be annexed by Catholic Portugal in 1558, free from Portugal in 1573, annexed by the Reformed Netherlands in 1654, breaks free from their control in 1798, annexed by Anglican Great Britain in 1887, free from the now Secular Great Britain on July 26, 1965 and on-map to the present day.

Strategy[]

Depending on the starting date, the Maldives can expand either by early-game colonization, or by taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the ever divided realm of mainland India. Expansion in modern times, though, is extremely difficult, due to every viable expansion route taken by other, usually very powerful powers.
