General Information Edit

Mali Mali is a large country situated in western Africa with access to large quantities of gold and other rare resources. Historically Mali is a very wealthy nation, both in riches and in culture, and during its height in the 14th century exercised large amounts of influence over it surroundings. Mali goes into decline during the 15th century but manages to survive up to the 19th century where they are taken over by Modern France France, only to be released as an independent nation again in 1960.

Strategy Edit

When playing as Mali it is advisable to annex your surrounding neighbors through either aggressive or diplomatic means so as to improve your control over the Timbuktu trade node as well as give you access to further riches. A large army isn't necessary for Mali early on as their are no direct threats near by and money would be better spent on advisers in an attempt to get an edge on technology. If you are lucky enough to have a high administrative leader then it is possible to achieve admin technology of 49 at the same time as the western nations. In this case you should get expansion ideas and aim to block the colonial powers out of Africa by colonizing the coast, allowing you to keep the African continent to yourself. Westernization can be attempted however if you can keep up with military technology then you are able to take on western nations with a large enough force.
